Once upon a time, there was a boy named Pedro. He was Emma's best friend! They always played together in the garden because they both loved unicorns. They would spend hours pretending to ride on magical unicorns and making up stories about their adventures.
One day, Pedro met Emma in the garden, looking sad. "My father passed away," he said, his voice small. "He left his things to my brothers. My oldest brother got the windmill, my middle brother got the mule, and all I got was a cat!"
Emma looked at Pedro with her big green eyes. "A cat? How will you survive with just a cat!"
"Don't worry," Pedro said, "I'll figure something out."
Just then, the cat interrupted them. "If you get me a pair of leather boots, I'll prove to be very useful!" he said, with a mischievous twinkle in his eye.
Emma and Pedro looked at each other. They had saved lots of coins in their piggy bank! They ran inside and broke it open, carefully counting all the coins. They were able to buy a pair of shiny brown boots for the cat!
"Thank you!" the cat said. "Now, do you want to go on an adventure with me?"
Pedro thought for a moment. "I think I'll stay with my brothers," he said.
"But I'll go!" Emma shouted, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "I'm always ready for an adventure!"
The cat smiled. "Wonderful! Follow me!"
The cat led Emma to a magical forest near Emma's home in Houston. They flew through the air, leaving sparkling rainbows in their wake. "Wow!" said Emma, "I'm creating magical rainbows! This is so much fun!" The cat chuckled. "You're a very special girl, Emma."
They landed safely in the forest. The cat, being a very good hunter, caught two fat hens. "I have a plan," he told Emma. "You'll understand soon."
They reached the Enchanted Castle in the middle of the forest. The cat gave the hens to the King's servant, saying they were a gift from a young man who had just moved to the kingdom. The servant was delighted.
Then, the cat and Emma hurried back to meet Pedro. "I have a plan, Pedro," the cat said. "I gave the hens to the King's servant, pretending they were from you. He thought they were a very thoughtful gift."
"What's the plan, Emma?" Pedro asked, looking confused. Emma shrugged. She was still trying to figure it out.
They all played in the garden for a while. Then, Pedro and Emma decided to go for a swim in the nearby pond. The cat suddenly ran off, saying, "Stay right there! It's all part of the plan!"
The cat raced towards a royal carriage approaching the pond. The King was inside! "Someone stole the clothes of my young master!" the cat cried. "They also took the clothes of a young girl named Emma!"
The King, being a kind and generous ruler, invited the cat, Pedro, and Emma to ride in the carriage. "I'll arrange for you all to have new clothes," he said. "Thank you, Your Majesty," said Emma, her eyes shining with curiosity.
The cat then asked the King, "Would you like to see the lands of my young master, Pedro?" The King agreed.
The cat directed the carriage to the castle of a powerful ogre. Pedro was confused. "What's going on?" he whispered to Emma. "I don't understand!"
Emma smiled. "It's an adventure, Pedro!" She loved the feeling of excitement.
As the carriage stopped in front of the ogre's castle, the cat jumped out first. "Pedro," he said, "show the King around your lands."
Pedro and Emma decided to play along. The cat went into the castle. The ogre was surprised to see a cat in his castle. "What are you doing here?" he growled.
The cat bowed low. "I admire your magical powers," he said. "Could you turn me into a lion?"
The ogre, wanting to show off his magic, turned the cat into a lion! "Now, can you turn me into a mouse?" the cat asked, now a lion. The ogre transformed him into a mouse!
With a roar, the lion ate the mouse! Now, the castle belonged to Pedro! He could play there all he wanted, especially with Emma's magical rainbows.
The cat, who also had magical powers, turned back into a cat. He met the King, Pedro, and Emma at the castle gates, inviting them all inside.
The King was amazed by the castle! "You are very humble and kind children," he said to Pedro and Emma. "I have a daughter, and I think you two would make a lovely couple!"
Pedro and Emma were delighted! They were excited to meet the princess. But then they decided to tell the truth.
"It was all the cat's plan!" they said. "He's the one who saved the castle from the ogre."
The King laughed. He loved that Pedro and Emma were honest.
From that day on, Pedro, Emma, the cat, and the princess played together every day in the enchanted forest garden. They all loved unicorns! This truly is a happily ever after!
