Once upon a time, there was a boy named Pedro. Pedro was a very good friend of Mason. They were always playing together because they both loved to climb! They would spend hours climbing trees and exploring the garden near Mason's house. Mason had brown, straight hair and green eyes. Mason was very sporty and loved to climb!
One day, Pedro met Mason in the garden. Pedro looked sad. "My father died," he said. "He left my brother, Luis, the family windmill. He gave my brother, Jose, the pack mule. But he only left me a cat!"
"A cat?" asked Mason. "How are you going to survive with just a cat?"
Mason wanted to help Pedro because he was a sporty boy who liked to help others. Before Pedro could answer, the cat jumped in. "If you get me a pair of leather boots," said the cat, "I'll prove very useful to Pedro!"
Mason and Pedro quickly broke open their piggy bank. They had saved many coins! They bought the cat a pair of shiny leather boots. The cat purred with delight. "Do you want to come with me?" he asked.
Pedro said, "I'll stay with my brothers." But Mason never turned down an adventure! He was full of hope and excitement. "Let's go!" he shouted, and set off with the cat.
The cat led Mason to a magical forest near Denver. The cat, being a good hunter, caught two hens! It was so amazing to see the cat and Mason reach the forest! The forest was filled with the sounds of birds singing and the smell of pine trees. Along the way, Mason showed the cat his superpower: he could climb like a spider! He could climb the tallest trees without even breaking a sweat.
"I have a plan," the cat said to Mason, "and you'll understand soon enough." They went to the enchanted castle in the forest. The cat gave the hens to one of the king's servants. "These are a gift from a young man who has recently moved to the kingdom," said the cat. The hens were a welcome treat. Then, the cat and Mason set off to find Pedro.
They found Pedro in the garden. "I did what I promised," the cat told Pedro. "Now, what's the plan?" asked Pedro. But Mason still didn't understand.
They played in the garden, and Pedro and Mason decided to swim in the pond. Suddenly, a royal carriage approached. The cat ran off. "Stay put," he said, "it's all part of the plan!"
The cat ran to meet the king, who was in the carriage. "Someone has stolen the clothes of my young master," said the cat, "and Mason." The kind king said, "Come with me. I'll arrange new clothes for you." Mason thanked the king, showing his sporty nature by being polite and kind.
"Would you like to see the lands of my young master, Pedro?" asked the cat. The king agreed. The cat directed the carriage to a castle, the home of a powerful ogre. Pedro didn't understand what was happening, but he and Mason enjoyed the adventure!
The cat jumped out of the carriage. "Show the king around your lands, Pedro," said the cat. Pedro and Mason decided to play along.
The cat entered the castle. "What's a cat doing in my castle?" asked the wicked ogre. "I admire your magical powers," said the clever cat. "Can you turn me into a lion?" The ogre, wanting to show off, turned into a lion.
"Can you turn into a mouse?" asked the cat. The ogre, excited to show his power, turned into a mouse. The cat, now a lion, ate the mouse! The castle belonged to Pedro!
"Now, we can play a lot, Pedro!" shouted Mason. "I can climb the castle walls with my super power, just like a spider!" The cat, who also had magical powers, turned back into a cat. He met the king, Pedro, and Mason. "Come into the castle!" he invited them.
The king was amazed by the castle and impressed by Pedro and Mason's kindness. "My daughter would be a perfect match for you, Pedro," the king said. "You would make a beautiful family together!" Pedro and Mason were delighted. They were excited to meet the princess.
But Pedro and Mason were honest children. They told the king the truth about the cat's adventure. The king was even happier to meet children with such good values.
After that day, Pedro, Mason, the cat, and the princess played together every day in the enchanted forest garden. They all loved to climb! This truly is a happily ever after!
