One morning, Scarlett woke up to find a tiny, sparkly dog sitting on her bed. The dog wagged its tail and barked a tiny, tinkling bark.
"A fairy dog!" Scarlett giggled.
The fairy dog jumped off the bed and trotted over to Scarlett's backpack, pawing at it with a tiny paw.
"Do you want to see my homework?" Scarlett asked the dog.
The fairy dog barked and spun in a circle, its tail wagging so hard its whole body wiggled. Scarlett picked up the fairy dog and showed it her picture of a cat doing ballet. Scarlett loved cats and ballet!
"This is for school," Scarlett explained. "We're learning all about animals!"
Suddenly, the fairy dog jumped from her arms and landed right on the picture! It touched the cat with its paw and, *poof*, the cat in the picture came to life!
The little cat stretched and yawned. "Where am I?" she meowed. "And who are you?"
"I'm Scarlett, and this is my homework!" Scarlett said.
The cat's eyes widened. "You drew me? That means you have magic!"
Scarlett gasped. "I do?"
The cat nodded. "Come on, let's show your friends at school!"
Scarlett put the cat in her backpack – carefully! – and held onto the fairy dog as they went to school.
At school, everyone gathered around Scarlett's desk, amazed by the fairy dog and the dancing cat. Scarlett’s teacher, Ms. Lily, smiled.
“Scarlett, that’s a wonderful picture. What a creative way to learn about animals!”
But then, the fairy dog started barking and ran to Ms. Lily's desk. It jumped up and tapped a book with its paw. *Poof!* The book opened up, and a big, friendly dragon popped its head out!
"Hello!" the dragon boomed. "I heard there was magic here!"
The classroom erupted in gasps and giggles. Scarlett knew that learning about animals was fun, but with magic, it was even better! They spent the rest of the day learning about dragons and fairy dogs and dancing cats. It was the most magical homework day ever!
When it was time to go home, Scarlett’s Mom was waiting for her.
“How was school, sweetie?” Mom asked.
"It was magical, Mom!" Scarlett cried. She told her mom all about the fairy dog, the dancing cat, and the friendly dragon.
Mom laughed. "That sounds amazing, Scarlett! You have such a wonderful imagination.”
That night, as Scarlett drifted off to sleep, the fairy dog snuggled up beside her. Scarlett knew that school, especially with a little bit of magic, was going to be an amazing adventure. And she knew just the place to keep her fairy dog safe - the library, her very own secret hideout!
