The Ugly Duckling with Grace

The Ugly Duckling with Grace

It was summer! The sun was shining so bright, and everything seemed happy and colorful, just like the sun was smiling! Grace loved summer!

Grace had moved from her house in San Francisco to a farm near the city. Her family wanted to be closer to nature! Grace loved it because she could play outside all day! She could even use her superpower, Making wishes come true, to play outside.

There was a stream on the farm. It was so peaceful and cool. There was also a lake where Grace could swim. The lake was a lot of fun because there were many ducks and ducklings swimming around!

Grace loved the animals on the farm! She thought the storks were the most beautiful. She loved their long legs! Grace would try to walk like the storks! Grace was a very creative girl.

One day, Grace was playing with the ducklings in the lake. She saw a duck sitting on some eggs! It was a magical moment! She watched the eggs start to crack, and baby ducklings hatched! But one egg, the biggest one, didn't crack! The duck looked worried. Grace watched the duck keep sitting on the egg.

A few days later, Grace went back to the lake. The duck was gone. The big egg had cracked, and a new baby duckling was in the lake! He was much bigger than the other ducklings, and his feathers were a different color! His beak was different, and he walked differently! The new baby duckling looked sad.

Grace loved to make new friends. She went up to the new baby duckling. She asked him why he was sad. She said he could play with her and explore the farm. The big duckling said he was sad because he was different from his siblings. The other ducks in the lake laughed at him! He felt really bad!

Grace said she would love to play with him. She told him that she would return the next day to play. Grace told him about her secret hiding place, Dreamland. She said they could play there.

The next day, Grace went back to the lake. But the big duckling was gone! He was so sad, he decided to leave and find new friends. He hoped they would accept him! He tried to make friends with other ducks, but they laughed at him. He felt sad and lonely.

The big duckling traveled for a very long time. The seasons changed. He had to move around a lot because no one wanted to be his friend. He felt safe and loved by nature.

Grace went to the lake every day to play. But she never saw her big duckling friend. She loved to play with her friends, and she enjoyed reading fairy tales!

Spring arrived, and the big duckling loved spring. He loved it just as much as Grace loved summer! After a long journey, the big duckling found himself near the lake where he was born. He was scared to go near his siblings because he didn’t want them to laugh at him. But when he got to the edge of the lake, he saw his reflection in the water! He was not an ugly duckling. He was a beautiful swan! That's why everyone thought he was so strange!

One day, Grace went to play in the water. She saw her friend, the swan, swimming in the lake! She was so happy! Grace was amazed! Her friend looked so beautiful! Grace loved that her friend was creative! Finally, they could play together!

Grace and the swan learned that being strange was not wrong. It just means being different! Everyone is different!

And isn't being different just being who we are?
