Once upon a time, there was a boy named Pedro. He was a friend of Lily. They liked to play together in the garden. They both liked animals. Lily had brown straight hair and green eyes. She was always very friendly! Pedro was her best friend.
One day, Pedro met Lily in the garden. He looked very sad. "My father died," he said. "He left the family windmill to my older brother, a pack mule to my middle brother, and only a cat to me!" Lily was sad for Pedro. "How will you survive with just a cat?" she asked. "Don't worry," said Lily, "I will help you. I'm good at making friends, even with animals!" But before Pedro could say anything, the cat interrupted. "If you get me a pair of leather boots, I'll be very useful to Pedro!"
Lily and Pedro went to their piggy bank. They had saved lots of coins! They bought the cat a pair of leather boots. "Do you want to go on an adventure with me?" asked the cat. "I'll stay with my brothers," said Pedro. Lily loved adventures! "I'll go with you," said Lily.
The cat and Lily walked through the enchanted forest near Lily's house in Washington. The cat was a good hunter. He caught two hens! "How did we get here so fast?" asked Lily. The forest was full of magic. "I'll show you my superpower later," said Lily. "I can talk to forest animals!"
"I have a plan," said the cat. "You'll understand soon." They went to the enchanted castle in the forest. The cat gave the hens to a servant. "These are a gift from a young man who just moved to the kingdom," said the cat. The servant was happy to get the hens! Then the cat and Lily headed to the garden to see Pedro.
The cat told Pedro what he had done. "What's the plan?" asked Pedro. Lily didn't know yet. "Let's play," said the cat. Pedro and Lily played in the garden. Then they went to swim in the pond. A royal carriage came near. "Stay here," said the cat. "It's all part of the plan!" The cat ran to the carriage.
The cat met the king. "Someone stole my young master's clothes!" said the cat. "It was Lily!" The king was always kind. "Come with me," he said. "I'll get you new clothes!" Lily smiled at the king. She was always so friendly.
The cat asked the king, "Would you like to see the lands of my young master, Pedro?" "Yes!" said the king. The cat told the carriage driver to go to the castle of a powerful ogre. Pedro didn't know what was happening, but he and Lily loved the adventure!
When they got to the castle, the cat jumped out of the carriage. "Pedro, show the king your lands," said the cat. Pedro and Lily decided to play along. The cat went inside the castle. "What's a cat doing in my castle?" asked the ogre. "I admire your magical powers," said the cat. "Can you turn me into a lion?" Like magic, the ogre turned into a lion! "Now, can you turn me into a mouse?" asked the cat. The ogre was proud of his power. He turned into a mouse! The cat, who was now a lion, ate the mouse! Now the castle belonged to Pedro. He and Lily could play there! Especially with Lily's superpower, Talking to forest animals!
The cat, who also had magical powers, turned back into a cat. He went to meet the king, Pedro, and Lily. "Come to the castle!" he said. The king was amazed by the castle. He was also impressed by Pedro and Lily. "I will introduce my daughter to Pedro," said the king. "Maybe they could have a family together!"
Pedro and Lily were happy. They wanted to meet the princess. But they decided to tell the truth! They told the king about the cat's adventures. The king was happy to meet children who were honest.
After that day, Pedro, Lily, the cat, and the princess played together every day in the enchanted forest garden. They all liked animals! This truly is a happily ever after!
