Evelyn and the Moon Bird

Evelyn and the Moon Bird

Evelyn found a magic seashell! It was pink and shiny, tucked in the sand at the beach. "Wow!" she shouted. Grandpa smiled. "Let's take it home," he said.

At home, Evelyn held the seashell tight. It started to glow, and suddenly, Evelyn was floating! "Grandpa!" she cried, giggling. Grandpa was floating too! The seashell lifted them up, up, up, past the clouds and stars, all the way to the Moon!

The Moon was bright white, like a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream. They bounced on the moon dust, lighter than feathers. "Look!" Evelyn pointed. A little bird with shimmering silver feathers perched on a rock, singing a song more beautiful than any Evelyn had ever heard.

"This is Moon Bird," a voice whispered. A tiny fairy with sparkly wings fluttered before them. "Moon Bird sings the Moon to sleep each night. But she's lost her voice! Now, the Moon stays awake, making the stars very, very sleepy."

Evelyn gasped. She loved watching the stars from her bedroom window in San Francisco! "We have to help her!" she exclaimed. The fairy nodded. "Moon Bird needs a special flower from Earth. A flower that blooms under the moonlight."

Evelyn knew just the flower! It grew in her garden. Grandpa helped her back into their house through the magic seashell. Everything was quiet. Everyone was asleep. Tiptoeing outside, Evelyn found the flower bathed in moonlight. It shimmered like the moon itself.

Back on the Moon, Evelyn gently gave the flower to Moon Bird. The little bird chirped and took a tiny nibble. A bright light filled the air, and Moon Bird started to sing! Her song was full of moonlight and magic. It was so beautiful that Evelyn and even Grandpa had to cover their ears.

When the song ended, the Moon was fast asleep, snoring softly. The stars twinkled brightly, wide awake and happy. Moon Bird chirped and rubbed her head against Evelyn's cheek. "Thank you," the fairy whispered. "You saved the Moon and the stars!"

Evelyn and Grandpa flew back home in the magic seashell. Back in her bed, Evelyn held the seashell tight. She knew, even though she was back in San Francisco, a little piece of moon magic would always be with her.
