Evelyn and the Very Brave Little Bird

Evelyn and the Very Brave Little Bird

Evelyn zoomed her toy boat across the living room floor. "Vroom! Vroom!" she shouted.

"Woof! Woof!" barked Sophia, her furry, tail-wagging friend. Sophia loved to play with Evelyn.

Evelyn giggled. "Let's go to the playground, Sophia!"

At the playground, something amazing happened. A tiny bird with bright blue feathers landed right on Evelyn's head! Evelyn was surprised but she didn't move a muscle.

"Look Sophia!" Evelyn whispered. "A little bird thinks my head is a tree!"

Sophia wagged her tail and barked happily. The little bird chirped and hopped from Evelyn’s head to her finger.

"He wants to be friends!" Evelyn exclaimed.

The little bird started to sing a cheerful song. Evelyn felt a warm feeling in her tummy, like sunshine. She knew it was the feeling of being brave and confident. Evelyn took a deep breath and sang along with the little bird. She even twirled and danced, making Sophia bark with laughter.

Suddenly, a big gust of wind whooshed through the playground. The little bird started flapping his wings really fast.

"He's scared!" Evelyn cried.

But Evelyn remembered the warm feeling in her tummy. She took a deep breath and held out her hand. "Don't worry, little bird," she said. "I won't let the wind take you away!"

The little bird landed gently on Evelyn's finger. He chirped softly, as if to say thank you. Evelyn felt happy and proud. She knew that even though she was little, she could be brave and help her friends.

The little bird hopped onto Sophia’s back for a ride as they walked back home. Evelyn sang a happy song all the way.

When they got home, Evelyn gave Sophia a big hug. "We were very brave today, weren't we, Sophia?"

Sophia licked Evelyn's face and wagged her tail. "Woof! Woof!" she barked, which Evelyn knew meant, "Yes, we were very brave!"
