Evelyn's Big Move

Evelyn's Big Move

Evelyn giggled, her tiny hands gripping a fluffy cloud as if it were cotton candy. "Up, up, we go!" she squealed, her eyes sparkling with delight. Dad smiled, holding her securely as they floated higher and higher, leaving their old home in Washington far below.

"Ready for a new adventure in the clouds, Evelyn?" he asked, his voice warm and comforting. Evelyn, a little explorer at heart, nodded eagerly. Moving away was a big change, but up here, everything felt light and exciting!

The clouds surrounding them shimmered with a thousand shades of pink and lilac. It was like stepping into a dream! Soon, they reached a giant, fluffy cloud that looked like a giant marshmallow. This was their new home, Dad explained.

As they landed softly on the cloud, Evelyn noticed something amazing. A beautiful creature with shimmering scales and wings wider than a house flew gracefully overhead. Its scales shifted through a rainbow of colors, leaving a trail of sparkling dust in its wake.

"A dragon!" Evelyn exclaimed, her mouth wide with awe. She loved fishes and the deep ocean, but she'd never seen anything like this!

Dad chuckled. "That's Sparkles," he said. "She's our friendly neighborhood dragon. She helps us move our houses up here."

Evelyn's eyes widened. Moving houses on a dragon's back? How cool was that!

Over the next few days, Evelyn explored their new cloud home. It was springy and bouncy, like a giant trampoline. She discovered hidden nooks and crannies, perfect for playing hide-and-seek. Sparkles often flew by, leaving trails of sparkly dust that Evelyn collected in her pockets, her own little treasures from the sky.

One day, Dad announced, "We need to plant a sky garden!"

Evelyn clapped her hands. "Can we plant clouds?" she asked excitedly.

Dad laughed. "Not quite," he said, pointing to a basket filled with glowing seeds. "These are special cloud-berries. They only grow up here."

Together, they planted the seeds in fluffy patches of cloud, watering them with collected rainwater. Evelyn even made friends with a tiny, fluffy cloud creature who promised to watch over their garden.

As days turned into weeks, Evelyn began to love her new cloud home. It was different, yes, but different in the best way possible. She learned that home wasn't just a place, but a feeling, a feeling she carried within her, wherever she went.

One evening, as they were eating dinner with Sparkles watching from a distance, Dad asked, "So, Evelyn, how do you like our new home?"

Evelyn, her face glowing with happiness, looked around at the beautiful clouds, the sparkling sky, and Sparkles, her new dragon friend.

"It's magical, Dad!" she exclaimed, her eyes shining brighter than the stars that were just starting to peek out in the evening sky. "We live in the clouds!"
