The air crackled with spooky excitement. It was Halloween night, and Jackson was ready for an adventure! He put on his favorite dragon costume. It had green scales and big, beautiful wings. He even had a long, swirly tail just like a real dragon!
“Ready for trick-or-treating, Yuna?” Jackson asked his furry friend. Yuna was a magical cat who loved reading spooky stories with Jackson.
Yuna purred and rubbed against a dusty old book on the shelf. It had a leather cover and no title. Jackson picked it up. “What’s this?” he wondered aloud. As soon as he opened the book, the room began to spin! The book glowed with a warm light, and suddenly, Jackson and Yuna were floating!
They landed with a soft thud on a surface that felt like hard, bumpy cheese. Jackson looked around. Everything looked strange and sparkly. He could see Earth hanging in the sky like a giant blue marble.
“Where are we, Yuna?” Jackson whispered.
Yuna pawed at a rock that whispered, “Mooooon… Mooooon…”
Jackson gasped. “Are we on the Moon?”
They were surrounded by craters and moon dust. It was a little spooky, but also very exciting! Jackson noticed colorful, glowing rocks scattered everywhere. Each rock whispered a different word as he hopped past. "Dragon… Read… Adventure…" they whispered.
“Maybe these moon rocks are trying to tell us a story!” Jackson exclaimed.
He followed the whispers, picking up the rocks and reading the words. Yuna helped by batting at the rocks with her paw, making them light up and whisper louder. One rock, shaped like a tiny dragon, glowed brighter than the others. When Jackson touched it, a picture flashed in his mind—a friendly dragon sitting on a pile of books, reading!
“Yuna, I think this dragon loves to read, just like us!” Jackson said, his eyes wide with wonder.
They continued following the whispering moon rocks. They learned about a dragon who lived on the Moon, reading all the stories the stars whispered at night. The dragon loved to learn new words and imagined all the amazing adventures the stories told.
As they read more moon rocks, Jackson realized something important. “Reading helps us learn and imagine amazing things, just like this dragon!” he said excitedly to Yuna.
Suddenly, the book from Jackson’s room appeared in a flash of light. As soon as they touched it, the room started spinning again! In a blink, they were back in Jackson’s room. The book was closed on the floor, and the only light came from the moon shining through the window.
“Wow, what an adventure!” Jackson hugged Yuna. Even though it was just a dream, Jackson learned that reading could take you on the most incredible journeys, even to the Moon and back! From then on, every time Jackson read a story, he thought of the friendly dragon on the Moon, and his heart soared with the joy of reading.
