The wind whooshed outside Liam's window, sounding like a giant was blowing its nose. Liam snuggled deeper into his dinosaur sheets. He loved dinosaurs! "Roar!" Liam roared back at the wind, giggling.
"What's so funny, Liam?" Sophia, Liam's fluffy dog and best friend, tilted her head.
"The wind is being silly," Liam said, "It's time to go to the doctor, remember? To stay healthy and strong!" Liam didn't always like going to the doctor, but his mom always said it was important.
On their way to the doctor's, Liam's mom took a detour. "Let's go to the Street Market!" she said. The Street Market was a magical place, full of yummy smells and colorful things. Liam loved looking at all the different fruits and vegetables, even though he didn't like to eat them all.
The market was even busier and louder than usual. People were talking excitedly and pointing to something at the end of the street. "What's going on?" Liam asked, holding tight to his mom's hand.
"I don't know," his mom said, "Let's go see!"
As they got closer, Liam heard someone say, "It's a unicorn! A real live unicorn!" Liam gasped. He'd only seen pictures of unicorns in his storybooks. Could this be real?
And then he saw it! It was a beautiful white horse with a shiny, spiraling horn in the middle of its forehead. The unicorn was surrounded by people, but it looked calm and gentle.
Suddenly, the unicorn looked straight at Liam. It took a step forward, then another, and walked right up to him! Liam was so surprised, he forgot to be scared.
The unicorn lowered its head and gently nudged Liam's hand. Its horn sparkled with rainbow colors. Then, just as quickly as it arrived, the unicorn turned and trotted away, disappearing around a corner.
"Wow!" Liam whispered, "Did you see that, Sophia? A real unicorn!" Sophia barked excitedly, wagging her tail.
"That was amazing!" Liam's mom said, "I've never seen anything like it!"
Liam couldn't stop talking about the unicorn all the way to the doctor's office. Even the doctor was surprised by his story! "Well, that's certainly a new one!" she said with a chuckle.
When Liam got home, he drew a picture of the unicorn to hang on his wall. He decided that going to the doctor wasn't so bad after all, especially if it meant he might see a magical unicorn again! From then on, whenever he felt a little bit scared, he would remember the unicorn's sparkling horn and the magic of the Spooky Street Market. And that made him feel brave again, ready for any adventure!
