Noah loved animals. He read about them in his favorite books at the library. He even had a pet bird named Sophia who was his best friend! One day, Noah's mom said, "Noah, we're going somewhere new today, a street market!" Noah wasn't sure about a new place. "Will they have birds?" he asked shyly. "It's even better than birds," his mom winked.
The street market was bursting with colors and smells! There were stalls of fruits Noah had never seen before, all bright green and purple. People were laughing and calling to each other. It was a little bit scary, but also exciting. Then Noah saw him - a man on a stage, but he wasn't just any man. He had silvery clothes that shimmered, and he held a wand tipped with what looked like a glowing star!
"Welcome, everyone, to the magic of Zorgon!" the man boomed. Zorgon? That sounded like a place from Noah's space books! Zorgon made the star on his wand dance in the air, leaving a trail of sparkling light. "Today, I'll show you how things grow, even in the farthest galaxies!"
Growing! Noah knew about growing. He was five now, bigger than he was last year. His mom said he was growing like a weed, whatever that meant. Zorgon pulled out a tiny, shriveled plant. "This," he announced, "is a moon melon from planet Zyzz, where gravity is weak, and plants grow upside down!"
He sprinkled the moon melon with shimmering dust from his pocket. Right before Noah's eyes, the melon sprang to life! It grew vines with huge leaves and then, hanging below, giant melons striped yellow and blue! "Wow!" Noah gasped. He'd never seen anything grow so fast.
"As you grow," Zorgon said, looking right at Noah, "you learn and change, just like the moon melon. Each day brings new adventures and discoveries!" He plucked a blue-striped melon and offered it to Noah. It smelled like sunshine and candy.
On the way home, Noah couldn't stop talking about Zorgon and the moon melon. "Mom, do you think I'll grow wings someday?" he asked. He was still small, but maybe if he ate enough moon melon... "Maybe not wings," his mom laughed, "But you never know what amazing things you'll learn and do as you grow!"
That night, Noah snuggled in bed with a slice of the juicy melon. He looked over at Sophia, dozing on her perch. "Maybe we'll go to space someday," he whispered. He knew one thing for sure - growing up was going to be one incredible adventure!
