Once upon a time, there was a child named Mason who lived with their mother in a little house in the mountains… The house was small, but cozy. The walls were made of stone, and the roof was covered in red tiles. Outside, there was a little garden with flowers of all colors! Mason loved to play in the garden, and they loved to look at the mountains. The mountains were big and tall, and they looked like giants sleeping in the sun.
Mason loved to climb. They would climb trees and rocks, and they were so good at it! More than anything, though, Mason adored their grandmother. She lived in a house in the next valley. She loved to knit and sew. One day, she made Mason a beautiful red hood to keep them warm. The hood looked so good on Mason, with their green eyes and brown hair. Everyone called them Little Red Riding Hood.
One day, Mason’s mother asked them to go to their grandmother’s house. Their grandmother was feeling a bit sick and needed care. “Mason, please take the road to get to your grandmother’s house. It is longer, but safer,” Mason’s mother said. “You know you love to climb, and the path through the forest is very dangerous.”
Mason’s mother prepared a basket full of delicious food to help care for their grandmother. Nothing helps an illness better than a meal made with love! Mason, or rather, Little Red Riding Hood, left home with their hood and the basket of food. “I promise to return tomorrow,” Mason called to their mother. Mason resisted eating any of the food. It would be better to save it for their grandmother!
As soon as Little Red Riding Hood left the house, they met a wolf. The wolf was evil, but he pretended to be kind. “Where are you going, Little Red Riding Hood?” asked the wolf. “I am taking food to my grandmother,” Mason said. The wolf said goodbye and went on his way. So did Mason.
Mason took the longer, but safer, path. But what Mason didn’t know was that the wolf had taken the forest path and planned to reach their grandmother’s house before them. And so he did. The wolf arrived at the grandmother’s house, and he ate the old lady in one bite! When Mason arrived at their grandmother’s house, the wolf, dressed in the grandmother’s clothes, pretended to be her to deceive Mason!
Mason found their grandmother’s appearance strange. “Grandma, your eyes are so big!” Mason said. “It is to see you better, Little Red Riding Hood,” said the wolf, disguised as the grandmother. “Grandma, your nose is so big!” Mason said. “It is to smell you better,” said the disguised wolf. “Grandma, your mouth is so big!” Mason said. The wolf couldn’t resist any longer and pounced on Mason! “It is to taste you better!”
A wise old woodsman was walking through the forest. The old man had magical powers. He heard Mason in trouble! Before the wolf could eat Little Red Riding Hood, the old man entered the house and saved the child.
The magical woodsman enchanted the wolf, making him tame and gentle. He put him to sleep. “The wolf ate my grandmother!” said Mason. The woodsman smiled. “No evil can defeat goodness,” he said. With just a wave of his hands, he freed the grandmother from the wolf’s belly!
Mason hugged their beloved grandmother! “Thank you, kind woodsman!” Mason said, wearing their red hood that covered their straight hair. Mason offered the woodsman the delicious food their mother had prepared!
That night, Mason, their grandmother, and the magical woodsman enjoyed the delicious food made by Mason’s mother. And doesn’t this story make you hungry?
