Once upon a time, there was a curious and adventurous child named Ethan. Ethan loved to go on walks. It was during these walks that he would dream about his favorite hobby: fishing. One day, Ethan was exploring some bugs in a grassy clearing in the middle of a forest.
Ethan was watching a trail of ants when he heard some voices! Ethan was very intelligent, so he decided to find out what all the conversation was about. He carefully followed the voices, and that’s when he discovered three little sister piglets. They were so funny! One had curly pink hair, one had polka dot spots, and one had a funny crooked tail!
The piglets immediately called Ethan over and, before even introducing themselves, they asked, “Do you live in a house?”
Ethan was a little confused. Of course, he lived in a house! It was a cozy home in Indianapolis that he shared with his family.
The youngest piglet, the one with the crooked tail, explained, “We left our mother’s house! We’re all grown up now! Our mother told us to build our own houses because the forest is dangerous. There’s a wolf who loves to eat piglets!”
Ethan was surprised. The piglets looked so young, and they were already building their own houses! He thought about how scared they must be, but he immediately said, “I can help you!”
Each of the piglets was going to build her own house. The first piglet wanted to use straw. She tied it up in big blocks and didn’t even have a door or window! She just wanted to finish quickly so she could go play. “Ethan, come play with me!” she called.
But Ethan said, “We’ll help all three of you, a little bit each, so you can all play together.” Ethan loved to play with his superpower: walking on water! It was so much fun.
The next piglet decided to gather wood from the forest and built her cabin. It had a roof, doors, and windows. But she saw her sister playing and didn’t worry about putting in too many nails. Finally, she went to play! Ethan then went to help the third piglet.
The third piglet wanted to build a house just like her mother’s. She wanted bricks, cement, glass windows, and a strong roof. And it took time! Ethan and the piglet sweated with all that work! But they laughed while they were building! Meanwhile, the other two piglets were already outside, having a lot of fun.
When the third piglet and Ethan finished the whole job, the piglet invited Ethan to eat something in her new house! Ethan was excited. They could cook something on the wood stove they had built!
That night, the wolf appeared! The piglets and Ethan were scared! The wolf went straight to the straw house and, with just one strong blow, knocked the whole house down! The piglet who lived there ran through the dark forest, with the wolf chasing her!
Ethan worried for the piglet and said, “We can go to our hiding place, the Mysterious Lake, if we need to!”
The wolf, who was hungry and didn’t want to waste time, went straight to the wooden cabin. It took two strong blows, and the house fell apart. The second piglet ran and found her sister hiding in the forest.
The wolf, already irritated, went to blow down the third house, the one made of bricks. A delicious smell was coming out of the chimney. He blew, blew, blew, but nothing happened. The house didn’t fall! So he decided to go down the chimney! It seemed like a good idea! But when he started to descend, he smelled something burning! His tail was on fire!
This time, it was the wolf who was scared! He quickly ran away from there!
The two hiding piglets laughed when they saw the wolf running away. They were finally able to return to their sister. The sister welcomed them, and, along with Ethan, they had a delicious soup! It felt good to feel welcomed, inside a warm and safe house!
And so, Ethan and the three little piglets enjoyed that night, realizing that sometimes, good things take time!
