Once upon a time, there was a boy named Pedro. Pedro was Elijah's best friend. They played together every day. They liked to look up at the stars and talk about Space.
One day, Pedro met Elijah in the garden where they always played. "My father passed away," Pedro said. "He left the family windmill to my brother, a pack mule to my brother, and only a cat to me."
"How are you going to survive with just a cat?" Elijah asked. "It's okay," Pedro said. "I'll figure it out. You know how curious I am!"
The cat looked at Pedro and Elijah. "If you get me a pair of leather boots, I'll be very useful to Pedro!" he said.
Elijah and Pedro broke open their piggy bank. They had saved many coins! They bought the cat a pair of leather boots. "Would you like to go with me?" the cat asked. Pedro said, "I will stay with my brothers." Elijah was excited. "I'll go!" he said. He always loved an adventure.
The cat and Elijah went to the enchanted forest near Elijah's house. It was a magical place! Elijah showed the cat how to travel through space. It was his special power. The cat was amazed! They traveled to the forest quickly!
The cat caught two hens in the forest. He was a good hunter! Then the cat told Elijah, "I have a plan. You'll understand soon." He took the hens to the enchanted castle in the forest and gave them to one of the king's servants. "These are a gift from a young man who has recently moved to the kingdom," he said. The king's servant loved the hens!
The cat and Elijah went back to the garden to see Pedro. "I gave the hens to the king," the cat said. "Now we have to wait." Pedro looked at Elijah and asked, "What's the plan?" Elijah didn't know yet.
Pedro and Elijah played in the garden. They decided to swim in the pond. The cat ran away. "Stay put! It's all part of the plan!" he said.
A royal carriage came to the garden. The cat met the king. "Someone has stolen the clothes of my young master," the cat said. "He is named Elijah!" The king was kind. He invited the cat, Elijah, and Pedro to ride in the carriage. "I will get you new clothes," the king said.
"Thank you, Your Majesty," Elijah said. He was always so curious.
"Would you like to see the lands of my young master Pedro?" the cat asked the king. The king said yes.
The cat told the coachman to take them to a powerful ogre's castle. Pedro was confused, but he and Elijah liked the adventure. When they got there, the cat jumped out of the carriage. "Pedro, show the king around your lands," he said. Pedro and Elijah played along.
The cat went into the castle. The ogre asked, "What is a cat doing in my castle?" The cat said, "I admire your magical powers. Can you turn into a lion?" The ogre turned into a lion! The cat asked, "Can you turn into a mouse?" The ogre wanted to show off his power, so he turned into a mouse. The cat, now a lion, ate the mouse!
The ogre's castle was Pedro's now! Pedro and Elijah could play there a lot. They could even travel through space together! The cat had magical powers too. He turned back into a cat and went to meet the king, Pedro, and Elijah. "Come into the castle!" he said.
The king was amazed by the castle. He was also impressed by Pedro and Elijah. "My daughter is looking for someone to marry. You seem like a good match," the king said. "You two could have a beautiful family."
Pedro and Elijah were happy! They were excited to meet the princess. But they knew they had to tell the truth. "The cat helped us get this castle," Elijah said. "He had a great plan!"
The king was even happier! "You are honest children with good values," he said. From that day on, Pedro, Elijah, the cat, and the princess played together every day in the enchanted forest garden. They all liked Space.
This truly is a happily ever after!
